Zoho vs Salesforce: which CRM should you choose?

We're certified in both, so we have no reason to push one. Here's how we decide which one to recommend.

The short answer

Pick Zoho if you're a small or mid-size business that wants good value and many tools under one licence. Pick Salesforce if you have a larger team, complex processes, or need deep customisation and enterprise-grade integrations.

Most of the time the deciding factors are budget, team size and how unusual your processes are.

Cost

Zoho is usually cheaper per user, and Zoho One bundles dozens of apps (CRM, Books, Desk, Campaigns, People and more) under a single licence. Salesforce charges per cloud and edition, and extras like advanced AI or marketing tools are often add-ons.

Remember that licence cost is only part of the bill. Setup, customisation, training and ongoing admin matter just as much. A cheap CRM nobody uses is the most expensive one.

Customisation

Both can be customised far beyond the basics. Zoho uses Deluge scripting, Blueprints and Creator for custom apps. Salesforce uses Flow, Apex and Lightning Web Components, and has a larger ecosystem of developers and pre-built apps on AppExchange.

If your process is unusual or your data model is complex, Salesforce gives you more room. For most standard sales, support and operations processes, Zoho is more than enough.

All-in-one vs best-of-breed

Zoho's strength is breadth: finance, HR, support, marketing and CRM from one vendor, already talking to each other. Salesforce's strength is depth: each cloud is very capable, and it integrates with almost anything, often through MuleSoft.

AI

Zoho has Zia built into its apps. Salesforce has Einstein and Agentforce for building AI agents. In both cases, AI is only as good as your data. Clean data and clear processes come first.
